Peer Reveiw

Textures

Flooring-
Both bars are concrete slabs consisting of tiled flooring. TH33BAR.1 located on the ground floor uses a dark slate tile suggesting a more serious and stern affect.
TH33BAR.2 which is on the first level has cream mosaic tiling which is more intimate and inviting to release the sense of comfort.
Structure-
The structure of TH33BAR is steel frame with rendered concrete 190 block work and a combination of corrugated iron and glazing for the roof structure.
The block work is very bland and rendered white so all attention is directed upon the artwork or sculptures of the time.
The steel frame work is rusted which gives a rustic vibe to perceive the notion of new block work and glazing with old steel rusted i beams can unite. just as new artwork and sculptures will be displayed with the old.
The corrugated iron is once again evidence of a modernistic and practical touch to the building.
Incorporating glazed glass is the main concept of the re-envision, it provides natural lighting which is essential for artwork and an extremely modernistic technique. The entry has one facade with a broken glass wall, which is where the name TH33BAR originates from due to all the 3 angled triangles.

Internal-
The TH33BAR.1 on ground floor is purely a white laminate bar with a touch of light timber to easy the mood and not be confronting or attract attention.
On the first level Th33BAR.2 can have a much more exotic feel, hence the use of much darker timber on the face of the bar.
The bar logo and part of the wall is layered with AstroTurf, a artificial grass material which is really lively and suggests a more friendly feel.

My re-envision of frank Gehry's Vitra Design Museum evolves the once museum into an Art gallery with a bar incorporated as its main function is primarily exhibitions and functions. I wanted to edit this buildings previous status, yet found the buildings unique shape and persona to fit the profile of an Museum so I decide to stay on the same track. The majority of the roof is glazing supported by rusted steel I beams to affiliate this modern building to something rustic and raw. This notion imitates the way new and old art work will be displayed amongst each other within TH33BAR.

Inspiration for Ideas and Re-envisioning

Zaha Hadid-
Zaha Hadid is an architect who consistently pushes the boundaries of architecture and urban design. Her work experiments with spatial quality, extending and intensifying existing landscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic that encompasses all fields of design, ranging from urban scale through to products, interiors and furniture. A winner of many international competitions, theoretically influential and groundbreaking, a number of Hadid's winning designs were initially never built.

Vitra Design Museum Re-envision

The possibility of re-envision for the Vitra Design Museum would incorporate a glazed ceiling. I find the unique design and complicated figure of the Vitra Design Museum to be extremely daunting therefore incorporating some kind of additional external views could be liberating. This concept also contributes to the additional source of natural internal lighting which is essential in a museum.

For architecture to be completely processed and appreciated does not only rely on the first physical appearance of the building. It relies on two aspects, the in depth concepts and purposes of the buildings function and the buildings surroundings. I found for the Vitra Design Museum a dessert environment consisting of Baron white sand would be the most effect to reflect on these concepts. There would be some what of an illusion of where the buildings white walls stop and the ground starts. The lack of other objects could also enhance and exaggerate the Vitra Design Museums intense figures. Finally the quality of dessert sunlight would be exceptional for natural lighting of the museum.
